Bubbles. Clusters. Pods. Some of the words we use to describe ways we keep each other safe from this virus. Reconciling safety and risk is among the chief challenges brought about by the coronavirus. It can be especially challenging when you’re making decisions that could affect the health of your loved ones.

Travel in pandemic times can be challenging. It involves planning, rules, testing, quarantining, masking, and social distancing. And after all of this, you can still get infected and infect your beloved ones, so the best thing to do is to stay home and cancel any unnecessary travels.

But sometimes traveling is essential and we need to know how to make it with the least risk possible. So it’s important to first identify whether your area is considered a Green, Yellow, or Red zone.

  • Green zones are areas that have no local transmission for 14 consecutive days and no land border with a red zone.
  • Red zones are areas that still have cases of community transmission.
  • Yellow zones are green zones that have land borders with red zones.

If you are already living in a green zone and traveling to a neighbor green zone: Congratulations! You can move freely and your mobility is not restricted as you will be safe.

Between Separated Green Zones

If you are living in a green zone and traveling to a green zone but separated by other zones whether red or yellow, You will have to identify the safe travel stops (Gas stations), and of course, it will be recommended and safer to have no travel stops.

Between Non-Green Zones

If you are living in a Yellow or Red zone and traveling to a Red or Yellow zone, make sure that this travel is essential, and if so, make sure to test at arrival and quarantine for 14 days after returning.

Between Green zones to non-Green Zones

If you are living in a green zone and have essential travel to a yellow or red zone, so your mobility is restricted and you have to make sure to make your purpose as soon as possible and with keeping low contact as possible. After returning to your zone, you have to test and keep quarantined for 14 days.

From Non-Green Zones to Green Zone

If you are living in a yellow or red zone and traveling to a green zone, make sure to test pre-arrival and if negative quarantine for 14 days after arrival to the green zone to make sure that you will not bring infection to this zone.
